About Me
I am the mother of 3 boys. They are 20, 17, and 12. Our 12-year-old son went to heaven in 2020. We miss him dearly, more than words can express. He taught us many lessons and blessed us greatly. Teaching my students was one thing that kept me going during that difficult time.
My family lives in the U.S.A., in the state of Missouri. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and gardening.
I have always had a love for learning and teaching. I work hard to adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of my students. I am so excited to team up with Blue Sky and continue to do what I love.
I am currently teaching English [ESL] at Blue Sky. I also have some specialty classes available.

English Class Description
I will teach what Chinese parents know as ESL “levels” 3 to 8 using the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Journeys Curriculum. This is a full language arts curriculum used to teach American students. We will work through the material at whatever pace the student needs to achieve and demonstrate mastery. These classes are one on one, 25 minute classes.
There are many enrichment resources available to use before and after class. Enrichment homework will be assigned per the parent’s request.
I also have access to other ESL materials if parents want a mix of Journeys curriculum and ESL curriculum. I can also include writing instruction to go with our Journeys classes.

Specialty Class Descriptions
This class is for 3-6 students. A minimum of 3 students need to be enrolled for the class to begin. These are 50-minute classes with a 5-minute break halfway. [2-25 minute class times will need to be used.] These classes will focus on delivery skills and how to organize and write a basic outline. Students will be encouraged to speak using their outline instead of reading every word from a paper. We will practice specific speaking skills and listening skills. Students will have time to practice speaking in every class. We will practice speeches to inform, entertain, persuade and to demonstrate something. We will also practice impromptu speeches.
I will use different sources from experienced public speakers and my experience teaching public speaking at Classical Conversation homeschool groups. I am passionate about this topic because I would like to teach students skills that I wish I would have learned when I was their age. These are skills that will help reduce the fear of public speaking and make communication more effective.
I will announce when this class is ready to begin and the times it will be available.
This is a one on one, 25 minute class. We will practice free conversation. It will be lightly structured with some conversation starters and prompts. We will practice making good sentences. Corrections for grammar and sentence structure will be given as needed, while also encouraging the student to freely talk.
Classroom Policies
- Adhere to all Blue Sky Education Policies.
- Communication: Please send a message through the Blue Sky website to Teacher Yvonne if your child cannot come to class within 2 hours of our class time. We will reschedule for another day and time with no financial penalty.
- Student No-Show: If your child does not come to his or her class as scheduled and there is no communication, you will forfeit that class. Exceptions can be made for emergencies. Please communicate with Teacher Yvonne as soon as you are able and we will work together to reschedule.
- Late Students: Teacher Yvonne will stay in the classroom for the first 10 minutes of class. If your student is not in the classroom at 10 minutes, Teacher Yvonne will leave the classroom. The class will not be refunded or rescheduled.
- Teacher Rescheduling: If Teacher Yvonne is sick or has a family emergency, your class will be rescheduled. Teacher Yvonne will make every effort to communicate with you ahead of our scheduled class.
- IT issues: If we experience technical difficulties that keep us from having class, we will reschedule your course. If we experience ongoing technical issues over several classes, we will work together to solve the problem to ensure your student has the best classroom experience possible!

Guidelines to have the most productive class:
- Make sure your internet and equipment are working well before class.
- Be on time.
- Have a quite workspace with good lighting.
- Keep your camera on and your face in view.
- Raise your hand for questions or comments.
- Eat and use the restroom before class.
- Be kind and respectful.
- Participate and do your best.
